Galfin, Passon & Greely, LLP is a superior quality law firm founded more than twenty years ago. We are located in Irvine, California, one of the nation's leading technology centers near the Orange County Airport. Since its inception, the firm has specialized in commercial and business litigation, transactional and corporate affairs, real property transactions and title insurance, creditor bankruptcy representation, employment issues, state court receiverships, and sophisticated liability defense. National Fortune 500 companies and numerous Southern California businesses regularly retain the firm because of its expertise, personal service, ethics, and practical approach to representing our clients in litigation and transactional matters. Our attorneys also act as "general counsel" for various clients who do not have their own in-house counsel. Utilizing that role, they provide an immediate response to everyday corporate needs and employment issues. The firm and its partners continue a history of being rated "AV" which is the highest rating for work quality and ethics given by Martindale-Hubbell. Additionally, the firm is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers published by Martindale-Hubbell, which is limited to the highest rated law firms in the country.

THE FIRM'S CLIENTS AND EXPERTISE

The clients of the firm range from individuals and start-up ventures which require legal assistance in formation and pursuit of their business strategies, to national financial institutions which recognize that a law firm of Galfin, Passon & Greely's size, expertise, and personality is best suited to handle most legal matters. The firm regularly serves its clients not only in Orange County, but also in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties and, on a case by case basis, throughout the State of California.

The firm has traditionally represented financial institutions, title insurers, real estate developers, personal property leasing companies, and other creditors in commercial and real estate litigation in state and federal courts. Included in such representation are a variety of specialized pre-judgment remedies such as claim and delivery (replevin), attachment, injunctive relief, and state court receiverships. As counsel to many creditors, the firm has significant experience with respect to foreclosure issues, work-outs, mixed collateral issues, loan servicing, loan documentation, unlawful detainer proceedings, and bankruptcy.

As counsel to creditors, the firm has one of the stronger and most respected local bankruptcy practices in matters which range from complex Chapter 11 proceedings to more routine Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 matters which demand aggressive representation. The firm regularly handles matters involving Chapter 11 disclosure statements and reorganization plans, applications for relief from the automatic stay, preference proceedings, assumption and/or rejection of leases, negotiations with debtors and trustees, as well as work-outs with other creditors and other bankruptcy-related issues.

Beyond specialized litigation, the firm prosecutes and defends general business litigation cases. Typical cases the firm has litigated include breach of contract, general real estate matters, landlord/tenant, fraud, construction defect, landslide and soil subsidence, mechanic's lien, general liability defense, judicial foreclosures, and premises liability. Also of particular interest in today's business climate is the expertise of our attorneys in employment matters including wrongful termination.

Additionally, the firm maintains a general corporate and transactional practice. From the formation and management of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and sole proprietorships, the firm can provide effective counsel as to most general business and transactional matters, leases, mergers and acquisitions, purchase and sale agreements, real estate transactions, contract review, and corporate affairs.

Finally, we have special expertise in state court receiverships. In this area of legal practice, the firm pursues the remedy of a receivership to allow a creditor to protect and enforce its rights in collateral and prevent fraud. Further, the firm represents state court receivers who have been appointed by a court in performing their duties as receiver.

As to all of these areas of practice, the quality of the legal services is paramount. The firm strives to be honest with its clients as to the reasonable prospects of success so that matters which should be settled are settled and matters which demand to be litigated are brought to trial. We are extremely proud of our attorneys and staff who continue to provide the finest service available in our community.

FACILITIES AND TECHNOLOGY

The firm's offices are professional and from a technology perspective are state of the art. All attorneys and staff have computer network access to a complete state and federal law library, combining the resources of a traditional law library with high speed broadband width internet legal research, information sources, and CD-ROM technology. Our firm communicates with its clients, opposing counsel, and the courts through an efficient use of e-mail, the latest word processing programs, automated record keeping and scanning, remote computing, and on-site information service personnel.

WHY GALFIN, PASSON & GREELY?

Galfin, Passon & Greely is truly different than most other law firms which allows it to serve a distinguished list of clients. The firm strives to ensure that its clients receive superior legal services in a personal atmosphere and not from an impersonal institution. As a moderate sized law firm, among our unique strengths is the ability to provide individual attention to both litigation and transactional matters and furnish creative solutions to common as well as complex legal issues, while at all times maintaining the highest respect for professional ethics and standards. It may seem basic, but every client should be able to reach their lawyer. Each lawyer must promptly return their telephone calls and must have a grasp of their client's matters at all times. Every client is important and will receive value for their legal service dollars. Finally, clients and lawyers should be proud to work together to achieve the best possible result. By following that mandate, the firm continues to maintain the highest rating published by Martindale-Hubbell.

While some law firms may approach matters on a "high volume" basis with limited attention to detail and quality, or educate inexperienced lawyers at the client's expense, our firm demands that its attorneys take into consideration the economics and goal of every case. Routine cases are processed quickly and efficiently. Although the firm (and, of course, our clients) would prefer that all matters be concluded quickly, unfortunately that is sometimes beyond the firm's control. Nonetheless, in all cases, we do what is practical and necessary to enforce our client's rights or defend their interests.

Because attorneys' fees and costs are always an important concern to clients, the firm has developed variable fee structures which can be modified to meet an individual client's needs. Every statement is itemized and carefully reviewed before being presented to a client. Contrary to many other firms, we do not charge our clients for normal photocopying, postage, long distance telephone calls, facsimile charges, administrative fees, or word processing and similar charges. Customary advances such as court filing fees, bonds, and service of process are billed at our cost, with no markup. Messenger charges are routinely avoided by doing the work in a timely fashion so that last minute filings are avoided.

In sum, the firm understands the needs of its clients and, in particular, in-house counsel who are expected to satisfy their own series of demands. The combination of legal experience, creative and successful strategies, appreciation for economics, and personal service achieves positive results. It is for those reasons, clients choose Galfin, Passon & Greely.
